Also, if you run into any problems while following this guide, feel free to ask by using the comment section at the bottom of this page. Let’s get started!

Make sure your Apple Music subscription is Active

To make sure everything works fine before going for further solutions, it is good to check your Apple subscription is active and has no issues.

Apple Music subscription

Go to Apple music official website, log in to your account, and make sure everything works fine. you can do the same using the Apple Music app if you are using an iPhone/iPad

If you see something like this, then you need to renew or reactivate the subscription plan to keep the service active.

01 – Try Firefox web browser to connect Apple Music with Alexa

I found an interesting solution to fix the problem while researching this problem. A user like you was using the safari browser to link his apple music subscription to Alexa. After multiple failures, he then switched from Safari to Firefox browser, which fixed the issue for him.

So you can try the same. Even if you do not use a web browser to connect your apple ID with Alexa, with this new solution, you might be able to fix the issue too.

  1. Download Firefox from App Store
  2. Connect your apple ID with Alexa

02 – Set up Apple Music on Alexa (In the right way)

You should link Apple Music to Alexa in the correct way to make it work. If you did not properly connect it then it won’t work.

Here is the right way to connect Amazon Alexa with your Apple Music account:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app
Open the Amazon Alexa app
Open the Amazon Alexa app
  1. Tap the More button on the bottom right corner
button on the bottom

  1. Tap Skills & Games

  1. On the search bar, type Apple Music
search apple music
search apple music
  1. Apple Music now will be displayed on the results, tap on Enable to use
  2. Now tap on Settings
Apple Music Setting
  1. Lastly, tap on Link Account to connect Apple Music with Alexa

Now you should be good to go. Try to play a song on Alexa using Apple Music.

03 – Restart the Amazon Echo Device

Maybe you have set up the account correctly but there is a temporary problem with the Amazon Echo device linked to your Alexa account. In that case, you can simply get rid of the problem by restarting the Echo device.

You can safely turn off the Echo using its switch, then turn it on again and connect the Alexa. Then check if the problem is solved.

04 – Update your Apple device software

For questions asked on the official apple forum, the developers of iOS have reported that the issue can be fixed by updating the iOS to the latest version.

In addition to that, I also recommend you update the Apple Music app too since you can solve if there is anything wrong with the app also. Which will increase the possibility of fixing the problem.

05 – Turn off the “Explicit Filter”

The explicit Filter feature will turn off songs that have explicitly declared lyrics. But this feature will not work on all devices and with all services. According to Alexa’s official page;

Note: Some music services do not support explicit filtering. If the music service doesn’t launch, turn off the explicit filter and try again.

If you have already enabled this feature, you can try to connect to Apple Music by turning off the feature.

06 – Turn off the Apple Music Skill feature, then reconnect to Alexa

Before going for the last solution, you can remove the Apple music from the skill section and try adding it again. This is because since you have turned off explicit filtering and have updated Apple Music, then it is better to try re-linking them together to see if the problem is fixed.

You can do this easily as you add the Apple Music skill, here is how you can do that:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app
  2. Tap the More button on the bottom right corner
  3. Tap Skills & Games
  4. You will see the Apple
  5. Turn off Apple skills
  6. Close and open the Alexa app again and link the Apple Music again (as described in Solution 02)

07 – Restore Echo settings to default

If none of the above solutions worked for you, the last option is to reset the Echo device which does not work with Apple Music.

Open the Echo settings on the Alexa app, then tap on Factory Reset which is at the bottom of the menu.

After the reset, the first thing you should do is connect the Apple Music, in that way, you will successfully connect the Echo device with the Apple Music account.

Conclusion

Apple Music is not perfectly connectable to Alexa yet. But still, there are some other ways that you can work on to temporarily fix the issue. And in this guide, I have gathered all the solutions into one page to help you.
