So in this guide, we will tell you what are the possible causes for this issue, and how to fix them.

Let’s get started.

Why the Echo Show displays the wrong temperature?

location is incorrect on your Amazon account
location is incorrect on your Amazon account

There can be one or many reasons why the Echo Show displays the wrong temperature. However, we thought it would be better to understand the situation here.

The problem is the Echo displays the wrong temperature (even inside its weather application). However, according to some users, the wrong temperature only appears on the home screen, which can be even more confusing.

So we addressed these two situations to find their causes. And this is what we come to conclude.

If the Echo Show displays the wrong temperature entirely (even on its weather application), this could mean either the location is incorrect on your Amazon account, or the Echo Show has been set up with the wrong address.

On the other hand, if the Echo Show only displays the wrong temperature on the home screen, that means there is a bug within the Echo Show’s software. It can be temporary, or permanent.

First, you should check the location on both your Amazon account and inside the Echo Show device’s settings. Once you fix if there is any issue with those two settings, you can go to fix the glitch/bug that caused the Echo show to display the wrong temperature on home screen.

Let’s start with checking the location.

Fix 01: Check the location on your Amazon account

As you may know, Alexa uses your account’s location with the other location information (on the Alexa app, and devices) to give you accurate weather conditions. If that location on your Amazon account is wrong, then it will display an incorrect temperature on your Echo Show.

Also, if you have recently moved to a different country, you should change the location on your Amazon account in order to make Alexa and its devices work properly.

If you don’t know, here is how to check and verify your Amazon account’s location.

  1. Go to Amazon and log into your account
  2. Go to Manage your content and devices

Fix 02: Change the location on the Alexa app

On the Alexa app, there is a Home address that can be added to get the weather and temperature based on that location. If this has been set up incorrectly, that could be the reason why your Echo Show displays the wrong temperature.

To fix this, you have to change the Home location on the Alexa app, and here is how you can do that.

  1. Open the Alexa app

Fix 03: Change the location of your Echo Show, and other devices

The last step to check and verify the location is by looking at the setting for each of the Alexa devices, including the Echo Show. And this is what most of the users don’t know too.

This can be a bit tedious task if you have a few devices connected to Alexa. However, to fix the wrong temperature, you have to change the location of each device. Here is how.

  2. Tap on More/menu icon, and select devices

Up until here, if you have correctly followed the above solutions and steps, there should be no issue with the location of your house.

Restart the Echo Show

Now, all you need to do (if you still get the wrong temperature) is give your Echo Show a fresh restart so all the information you have changed will affect the weather information it displays on both the home screen and its weather application.

To restart the Echo Show, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Alexa app
  2. Tap on More/menu icon, and go to Settings
  3. Select devices
  4. Tap on the Echo Show
  5. Scroll down and tap on the restart button

If you couldn’t find the restart option inside the Alexa app, you can remove the plug from the power source, then wait a few minutes (5 to 10 minutes is enough) and plug it back and turn it on.

Once it is restarted, it will display the correct weather and temperature.
