Why is the Echo Show too bright at night?

If you are not going to use it all night and if it is placed inside the room well, then it can be a hassle for you to look at. If you are using the Echo Show as a bedside clock, then the white light could be more annoying whenever you sleep.

You might be wondering why this happens, right? The reason behind its high brightness is that the Echo Show has an LCD screen which uses one backlight to lighten up the entire screen. Therefore, the light it emits can be a bit brighter from how you like it. Also, if you have not set up the display correctly, the brightness issue can be even more bothersome to you.

Another reason why the Echo Show is too bright at night is the device’s fault. In this case, then you will have to take the device to the repair center to make it work again.

Does the Echo Show have night light settings (night mode)?

Starting from Amazon Echo show 5, a built-in night mode feature is enabled with Echo devices. This allows users to reduce the brightness at night when the Echo show is not used much but if you use an earlier version of the device, then you won’t see this feature on your Echo show.

However, even in the old echo show devices, there is a brightness slider that can be used to decrease the brightness of the screen. If you are unaware of this feature, don’t worry, we will explain how to use it as well.

Moreover, there are some other functions and voice commands that you can use to turn off or decrease the brightness level of your Echo show. And, everything will be explained below.

Now, you have a clear idea of why the Echo show has a high brightness level and whether you can solve it or not (of course you can).

Let’s see how to fix the too much brightness on your Echo show device.

Fix 01 – Decrease the brightness of the echo show

If you don’t know yet, you can reduce the echo show’s screen brightness in Settings. Also, there will be the Adaptive brightness feature that controls the brightness according to the environment.

Follow the steps below to decrease the brightness of the Amazon Echo show:

  1. Say “Go to settings” or swipe down the echo show’s screen and tap on Settings
Swipe down the screen

  1. The settings windows will be opened, after that, go to Display settings

You would have seen the Sunrise effect feature when you turn on the Adaptive brightness. This feature is best because it uses the clock time to adjust the brightness so if the Adaptive brightness does not work, turn on the Sunrise effect.

Fix 02 – Turn off the screen at night

If you are not going to use the echo show during the night, you can simply turn off its screen. This works perfectly fine on any Echo show device.

All you have to do is say “Alexa turn off the screen” and the Echo show’s screen will turn off during the night. Not only that, it will be automatically turned on when morning arrives.

Fix 03 – Turn on Night mode

As I mentioned earlier, the Echo show 5 and the newer versions have the Night mode which reduces the screen brightness during the night.

If you are an Echo show 5 user, then this method will definitely work for you. Follow the instructions below to enable the night mode:

  1. Swipe down the screen ans select Settings
Go to settings

  1. Go Home and Clock

FIX 04 – Turn off auto dim

Auto dim feature is introduced to dim the backlight when the device is in idle mode, but the problem is that this feature can get glitches sometimes; therefore, it is better if you can turn off this feature and only keep either Adaptive brightness or the Sunrise effect.

  1. Swipe down the screen
  2. Swipe down the screen

  2. Turn off the Auto dim feature
